(i'm so lazy i'll just do it in point form =D)
Day 1
- got up at 6am to get ready to catch the bus at 7am
- waited at dataran Ko-Q which is in front of the tennis court and the pusat ko-kurikulum's building.
- was feeling all happy and excited and discussing where we'll go as we have 3 different locations accroding to what other group that went last week. one location will have only hiking as they will hike to about 5 mountains and have shin-deep river. another will only water confident activity in a total murky water and the last one will be hiking and water confident activity in a really deep river.
- i got the one with hiking and water confident activity.
- we got our destined places at about 7.30 or more. i dunno as i did not bring my watch, phone and money. and so i'm very ulu for 2 days. =D
- then we boarded the bus to sungai lembing and i slept the whole journey. heh heh
- reached a place to have breakfast of some reddish orange-ish nasi and some teh-o. was the last to board the lorry to sungai jin as i ws waiting for my coursemate who was awaiting for her roommate. we waitied for about 1 hour for the next lorry and meanwhile, we and some others went to venture around the area. the guys went running and abusing the jambatan gantung the hangs over a river, cam-whoring on it, making girls screaming as they swayed the bridge. then there's this rombongan came over for some pertunangan at the only house where we stopped and asking so many questions and joking around with us.
- oh, did i mention that my group of 180 students there's a Sudanese student? heh heh
- the lorry came and there's so few of us so we no need to get cramp around like sardines which i was quite glad. =D
- we stand in the lorry and it was totally AWESOME! XD the road to the river was all bumpy and uneven and there's alot of low hanging branches and over grown side plants the will just hit you when you passed. so we'll be jumping and bouncing around in the lorry. and what i love the most is that there's this big and long branch coming towards us and everyone avoided it in unision. XD there's once this leaf smacked my face but the person at the side of me got smacked more. wahahahaha... and i was laughing and enjoying it all the way for 1 whole hour and the ehems was complaining and whining for 1 whole hour. me and my coursemate was hoping that the lorry journey will go on longer. heh heh
- reached the site and we have ceramah on why we're there and everything. the trainer said we anggap that this mission is in darurat time and that we're going to build a kampung based on the nearby river. so our drinks are from the river and we have to cook our own food for the night. what's gross is that the cups and plates are washed in the river. the plates remained oily and the river contaminated. oh, by the way, the river is super super clean and clear.
- our camp site is across the river and we have to wade through the river. nice~
- we start preparing dinner since about 5pm. the chickens are 'berenang-ing' in the river. =D we have rice, soup and cabbage. cooked by students eaten by students. the guys cooked the rice and it was wet and sticky just like 'nasi impit' according to the trainer. the soup is abit salty and the cabbage is just as raw as it is eventhough it's already cooked. but i guess we're all so hungry that everything tasted good. heh and there's this funny thing. the cook was doing spot check on the soup and he saw that the chicken butt is in the soup with some of the unplucked feather without the bulu-bulu stuck to the butt.
- then after dinner the trainer came to tegur all of us about our undicipline-ness, stubbornness, dirtyness anything. cause those people when they eat, they just simply put their plate and cup anywhere they want and that after dinner, the cooking utensils we did not wash and just simply leave it. and so we went and wash the cooking area.
- then at about 12 am we kena lectured by the trainer again as he said he's not satisfied with us and we're getting a D for this subject (yes, this is a part of my subject). and so to get back his respect and our A, he cabared us. all of us are required to go for a hike bringing those cooking stuff such as the wok, dulang besar, rice, biscuits, chairs, tables, and tongs in the middle of the night.
- i was all excited and everything and so we went hiking. different groups go at different time but in the end all the groups gto stuck together as one as we moved quite slow. the front people which is my coursemate intepret the sign which was just a string tied to a tree indicating which path that we have to go.
- everything was pitch dark. there's no moonlight as it was raining and all we have is just torchlight. bringing all those stuff isn't easy but we took turns. what's worse is that we got lost in the jungle and we ended up using the longer and harder way. there's alot of slopes, holes, big trees, roots, branches, small waist high stream and mud. we're all climbing, crawling, grasping anything on the floor and around us just to move forward. so you can imagine how muddy we are.
- there's once they said above our head got branches with duris and we're all bending so low and walking for a few meters without knowing that we had passed the place with duris.
- we kept on shouting and passing message saying, "ada lubang kat depan!", " licin!", "ada cerun!", "ada bukit", "naik sikit! hati-hati licin!", "sangat licin!", "sangat-sangat licin!" etc.
- and here comes the adventure. this guide who found us when we went on the wrong path he asked us to not switch on the torch light and he uses the green light that will make decayed leaves ilimunate green light. so everything was totally pitch black. what's worse is that he made me stay at a spot alone with the front group a few meters in front and another at the back. he did not came back telling me to start walking and the front people is already more then 2 meters away. did i mention that it is still pitch black? i don't want to wait anymore and so i quickly walked to the front group and calling out to the back group to follow me. worse, the back people is just so slow as they could not come down from one slope and they take such a long time. i just wanna catch up with the front as i had no idea where we're heading. so i kept on shouting "front people i can't see you!" and the person's surname that was just behind me, "teo! teo! i'm here. faster!". i know i shouldn't be calling name in the jungle but i can't help it. i only know her surname and all i can think of to call her is "industrial chemical student! where are you?!" don't you think it's weird?
- and so in all those chaos, i have to go down to this slope that they said have sesengat (semut api) nest. the whole slope was full of it. when i just put my hands on the place, those insects came and bit me in an instant. fuh! pain wei. and i brushed my hands on my butt to throw them away. wrong move. you know what happened. so all of us went "ah! ah! ah! pain pain pain!"
- finally both the front and back got joined together. the "teo" she hold my hand so tightly and when she lose balance, she twisted my skin so hard wei. did i tell you that i got sunburnt? i got hangus in the afternoon and my arms and face was so red and by night it was painful to even wrinkle the skin. and so it was painful everytime she hold my wrist. hu hu..
- we hike to about 2 to 3 hours and we have to cross the river to get to the other side of the hill cause our camp is there. we reached about 3 to 4 in the morning.
- then we're off to 'bed' and i did not bother to mandi as we have to get up by 6 something. actually i did not mandi the whole camping time. ish..and i itch in the morning.
- got up at near 7am and it was freezing. we were told that in the morning the temperature will be super cold. me teeth was chattering wei.
- had breakfast and more lectures and then they give us 30 minutes to bring over our tents to the otherside. and so since my tent there's only the 4 of us, we were the 2nd to bring it over without difficulty. proud wei. others they have 6 and still need guy's help. heh
- and then we're off to do some water activity. we only have 50 life jackets 180 students have to share. 50 students went to float on the deep water and another few went to have fun nearby by trying to float on water frontwards and backwards. the guys were jumping from a rakit into the water. looks fun but the girls never get to do it. hmph.
- the water confidents test was great. it was the first time that i went to a super deep place that my foot can't even touch the floor. we were instructed to lie on the water with our knees up to the surface and try to balance in the water. ho ho..awesome. XD
- more water play and then teatime. the water was so clean i felt clean. hahaah
- then the trainer gave his opinion on last night and he said overall we're all okay and i guess we will not get a D after all but i guess not an A cause there's this group who was in charge to bring the biscuits to the hike opened the tin and ate until half. they're not suppose to open it anyway.
- and the reason for this hike is that we have to pretend that some bencana people need our help and we're responsible to bring them food supply.
- so that's all. we went back to uni about 5pm and all of us was super tired.
all my coursemates was all being itchy and we kept on scratching our hands and legs throughout lectures. and 2 of my coursemates they got bitten by and insect called 'agas' that made their skin looked like they have small round ketumbuhan and it's really ithcy. i have about 10 in both my arms. and it is really itchy! my feet itched like it never itch before and now my left arm is itching. argh! *scratch scratch scratch!*
ARE YOU DOZING OFF?
haha..i know it a long post and it's all crappy but seriously, the experience is worth it. i wanna go back again! only for the bumpy ride and the clean river. not for the small unknown insect who bit my ****. heh
and this kind of darurat camp is because pahang is used to banjir and everything and we're told that we might have to help these mangsas when bencana happens so they make us prepare.
lets all go to sungai jin next time ya? hahah
